I forgot to make vacation plans!!!

So then I frantically got on the internet to see if there were any trips I could just buy or plan or somehow magically make happen.  But most things were sold out or have the lovely quality of when you see something nice and not too outrageously priced, and you click on “1 person”  well the price goes up like crazy.  It is not bad enough that I am a solo single traveller, but no, here is an extra charge of between 200 – 300 euros just for fun!  Not bitter just baffled.  Note to self:  “find a man before next summer”.

Being the optimistic that I am, then I put the word out on facebook that I am up for apartment swapping for a couple of weeks in July, hah take that pesky travel people!

-hey, and I already have some answers!  Summer might turn out alright after all.

These photos have nothing to do with this post really, the light was just so good the other night when I was having my dinner of leftover homemade sushi.  Yep made these thingies myself, you can see that these are the leftovers because of the wonky end bits there.  When I first made sushi the rolling was all uneven but thanks to youtube I sort of get it right these days but not always.  Yum.

I intended to start decluttering and making things shiny and fabulous in my place the other day, but kind of just made a mess and then did not have time to finish it all and put everything back.  It is so frustrating when that happens.  Am not seeing that I will have time to make everything fabulous this week but will try my best.  Should at least post some fun photos, at least!

Because of my job, I have already decorated two Christmas trees and gone on a shoot up north to shoot some short clips with some real santa clauses.  So this year my Christmas enthusiasm was awakened unusually early, and I have had to use quite some willpower as not to decorate already.  Am waiting “patiently” for next weekend, or Sunday, the first of the “advent”, to put up some lights…..and more xmas stuff, yay!.  I kind of cheated today though, when I bought two felted mushroomy thingies, and green candles…  They now live in the window, with the tiny chipped little bambi statue.  Sneaking Christmas in….but I am o.k. with that.

Nothing much, was trying out google sketchup as a tool for pattern making.   I might get hooked, but it is early days yet.

That means Christmas is just around the bend!!!! eeeeek, but I am not really panicking that much, yet…  I might  become increasingly crafty though, as I have some lofty ideas of giving mostly home made stuff this year.  So now I have to go into detective mode and find out what my family and friends actually need/want/like and so on.

I am watching The Event with one eye whilst writing this and seriously people, and I have said this before somewhere; Why has Blair Underwood not aged?  And good for him, and if it is not just good genes, could he please just spill the beans already!  Bleh am already over it.

Anyway.

Yes a tad bit old school, but a couple of years ago I printed this just days before my last day at this job I was at.  Took advantage of the printer there as mine would not have survived all this blackness of about 36 pages.  What were they gonna do, fire me?  I was already quitting.  So I hung it in my then apartment, and when I moved, just stuck it in a folder.  So until I figure some art out for that wall, Gary is staying!  As soon as I get the rest of the room together I’ll post it, but it SO is not together tonight.

Am spending this Monday night indulging in a movie and salsa dip.

But here is a little painting I finished this year.  I started it last year and meant to give it to my friend for her big birthday, but it kind of fell through the cracks.  So I finished it just before her next one this spring……eeek.  Very efficient indeed, sensing a pattern here?  I’m going back to my movie.

So, other than some dairy products that could almost speak for themselves, I did have a lemon that was on it’s last legs, a quarter of an onion, hardly a handful of frozen sweet little beans and cherry tomatoes.  Had bought them to bring as a healthy snack “on the road”  but had forgotten about them on the way.  Oooh and some parmesan to the rescue.  Plus some spaghetti.

I zested the lemon and squeezed half of it’s juice out into a bowl.  Chopped the onion and the tomatoes.  Put some spelt spaghetti in boiling water, and cooked according to package, I use spelt pasta because it feels less clumpy in the stomach.   Meanwhile, I swished the onion around on a hot pan with some oil until soft and slightly browning, then chucked in the frozen beans, stirred and then the tomatoes.  Some salt and black pepper and then put in the lemon juice and zest, smelt lovely by the way.  Stirred for a few minutes, hardly that though.  Put in a little more salt and pepper, and a pinch of garlic powder, then stirred in the spaghetti, remembered the parmesan and quickly added that.  Much to my surprise it was lovely, so fresh and nice yum.  To drink with it, hmmmm I only had about half a glass of sparkly lime water, so I added some frozen raspberries, ice and regular water, and hey!  A new favorite was born.  I now treat an empty fridge like a challenge, this time it worked, but sometimes it fails miserably.
